to kill a mocking bird - the title says it all!

well, maybe am a little behind times. cause this book "to kill a mocking bird" was written ages ago, but i read it only now. well, the novel was just splendid. its one of the few ones which are very meaningfull. i'd like to read more of this genre. the narration keeps you hooked and also emphasizes a good thought without even meaning to.

well, after reading a couple of grisham's, i started liking any novel which relates to law and legal practice. if you think "to kill a mocking bird" is gonna be about brawling lawyers, you're very much mistaken. its a pretty serious matter of racism seen through a not quite nine year old girl.
the childish humour; the kids staging a playfull drama about their weird neighbour they have'nt met; thier curiousness and sense to explore; jean louise's exploits at the school; the queer yet individualistic folks at maycomb county ; everything is fully described by the little girl. and yes, that includes, her lawyer father defending an innocent black man who is charged wrongfully for having raped a white girl. it is set in the times of the post-civil war in the US, when the people in north set negroes free and the south is full of yankees and white trash. am not very good either in history or politics but i've read "gone with the wind" so many times to be atleast familiar with the reconstruction era and the miseries it signified.

well, anyways. the novel says all black people need not be criminals and all whites need not be saintlike. there are good and bad streaks and every person and in every race. that is, stop being prejudiced. guess i should stop preaching. ;)
remember, its a sin to kill a mockingbird. :)
